Belgian Institute of Tropical Medicine appoints executive director

The Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp, Belgium has appointed Özge Tunçalp as executive director. She brings extensive international experience, including with the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, and notably in safer and higher quality maternal and perinatal care. Dr Tunçalp holds an MD from the Istanbul School of Medicine, Turkey and a PhD from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, US. She is an honorary professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK. In her role at ITM, Dr Tunçalp is sharing leadership with ITM’s General Manager Ann Peters.
