Willy De Greef has been appointed the new secretary general of the industry association, EuropaBio, replacing Johan Vanhemelrijck who is due to retire on 1 July 2008. Mr De Greef was most recently head of regulatory affairs and new projects for the biofuel company, D1 Oils Plant Science. But he also worked for many years with multilateral organisations helping developing nations construct regulatory systems for biotechnology.
Mr De Greef was appointed at the association’s general assembly on 26 June. The association also elected two new members to its board: Jacqueline Hunter, senior vice president and head of neurology and GI at GlaxoSmithKline’s Centre of Excellence for Drug Discovery and Serge Zybach, head of diverse field crops at Syngenta International AG.
