Trevor Jones, former director general of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, has been appointed non-executive chair of Simbec Research, a Wales-based clinical research organisation. Professor Jones was formerly director of research and development at The Wellcome Foundation where he was responsible for the development of AZT (zidovudine), the first US approved treatment for HIV infection. Prof Jones joins the Simbec board following that company’s acquisition in May by the Wales Life Sciences Investment Fund.
The company announced the appointment on 23 July 2013.
