Torsten Hombeck, vice president for finance at GPC Biotech, became chief financial officer on 1 January 2008. He replaces Mirko Scherer who has resigned to pursue other interests. Dr Scherer will however remain a consultant to GPC.
Mr Hombeck joined GPC in 1999 and has worked out of the company’s US offices in Princeton, New Jersey since 2002. In his new role, he will continue to be based in Princeton. Prior to joining GPC, Mr Hombeck held positions in corporate finance and controlling at Beiersdorf AG, a consumer products’ company.
Based in Martinsried/Munich, Germany, GPC Biotech works on the discovery, development and commercialisation of cancer drugs.
