Sygnis AG has named Heikki Lanckriet as its co-chief executive and chief scientific officer following the acquisition of Expedeon Holdings Ltd, a UK proteomics company. Dr Lanckriet co-founded Expedeon in 2003 and served as its chief operating officer, chief scientific officer and chief executive officer. He will share the Sygnis CEO position with Pilar de la Huerta, the current CEO and chief financial officer.
Sygnis announced plans to acquire Expedeon in May and raised money for the transaction in July. Expedeon develops and manufacturers proteomics reagents and tools, an activity that complements Sygnis’ work in the field of DNA amplification and sequencing.
Dr Lanckriet holds a master’s degree in biochemical engineering from the University of Ghent in Belgium and a PhD in biochemical engineering from the University of Cambridge in the UK.
Sygnis announced the appointment on 8 August 2016.
