Steven Hildemann, a former executive at Merck KGaA, has been appointed chief medical officer at Ipsen SA, reporting directly to Aymeric Le Chatelier, the chief executive. He will be responsible for the company’s global medical strategy. Before joining Ipsen, he built a digital health start-up company in cancer care. This followed five years as Merck’s CMO. He also held senior positions at Pharmacia-Pfizer and Schering-Plough-MSD. Dr Hildemann received his MD-PhD at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg, Germany where he continues as an adjunct professor of medicine.
