Amakem NV of Belgium, which is developing treatments for eye disease, has appointed Steve Pakola, formerly of ThromboGenics NV, as its chief medical officer. Dr Pakola was previously CMO at ThromboGenics. Prior to that he was associate director of cardiovascular clinical research at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc.
Amakem has also appointed George Lasezkay to its board as an independent director. Dr Lasezkay is the president of Horizon Pharma Group, a consultancy that advises life science companies on strategy and business development.
Amakem announced the appointment on 11 May 2012.
