Astellas Pharma Inc has appointed Simon Dew, a vice president for commercial development, to the position of chief strategy officer to help oversee the company’s activities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He replaces Naoki Okamura who has moved to Tokyo to help manage the company’s global licensing and alliance activities. Mr Dew is a pharmacist and has worked at Quintiles Transnational, Parexel International, Phytopharm, SmithKline Beecham, and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Concurrently, Astellas also appointed Jun Kono as vice president for corporate strategy and communications. Mr Kono has held corporate strategy and business development roles at the company.
Astellas announced the appointments on 7 August 2014.
