Simon Best, non-executive chairman of Ardana Plc and former chairman of the BioIndustry Association (BIA), has been awarded an Order of the British Empire for his service to the bioscience industry. Dr Best is a co-founder of Ardana which focuses on discovering and developing products in the area of reproductive health. He chaired the BIA from January 2006 until December 2007. Dr Best received an MBA from the London Business School in 1985. He is the former chief executive officer of Zeneca Plant Sciences and was the founding chief executive officer of Roslin Bio-Med, a company set up in 1998 to commercialise research from the Roslin Institute. Roslin Bio-Med was acquired by Geron Corp in 1999.
