Andrew Smith, a chartered accountant, has been appointed chief financial officer, effective 1 April, at Santhera Pharmaceuticals Holding AG, a Swiss specialty pharmaceutical company. Santhera is developing medicines for rare neuromuscular diseases. Mr Smith was most recently CFO and chief operating officer at Allecra Therapeutics GmbH, a German antibiotic company. Before that, he was CFO at Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, now owned by Mallinckrodt. Mr Smith studied business and accounting at Liverpool John Moores University and Durham University Business School, both in the UK.
Santhera announced the appointment on 24 January 2020.
