Sanofi-aventis has created a new executive position of social responsibility, which will deal with issues concerning environmental responsibility, sustainable development, access to medicine and sponsorship.
Gilles Lhernould, currently senior vice president for human resources, will assume the position of senior vice president for social responsibility on 1 October.
The vacant position at human resources will be filled by Roberto Pucci, formerly head of the personnel department at the Fiat Group.
Both men will report directly to Christopher Viehbacher, the chief executive.
