Rui Santos Ivo, executive director of the Portuguese Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry, has become an invited professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Lisbon. A former president of Infarmed, the Portuguese drug regulator, Mr Santos Ivo has been working with the university for several years on an introductory course in drug regulation. In his new role, he will maintain his current responsibilities and also lecture on regulation at the graduate level. In addition to leading Infarmed, Mr Santos Ivo was formerly an administrator at the European Medicines Agency, a member of its management board, and an administrator in the pharmaceuticals unit at the European Commission in Brussels.
