Roche names digital technology head amid AI move

Roche has appointed Wafaa Mamilli as chief digital technology officer, a role currently joined with chief financial officer, as the company works to transform its business with digital solutions and through enterprise-wide use of artificial intelligence. Based at Genentech, a Roche subsidiary, in San Francisco, US, Ms Mamilli will take over the worldwide informatics function for the Roche Group from Alan Hippe, who will remain as CFO. She most recently was chief digital & technology officer at Zoetis and previously, before 2020, worked for over 20 years at Eli Lilly, ultimately serving as global chief information officer. Ms Mamilli has a master’s degree in business applications of information and technology from Université Rennes, France, and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, US.

Roche announced the appointment on 29 January 2025.
