The ProStrakan Group Plc, a specialty pharmaceutical company, has appointed Peter Allen as chairman when Harry Stratford, founder and chairman, retires at the end of 2007.
Mr Allen has been a non-executive director of the company since 2005. He was chief financial officer and deputy chief executive officer of Celltech Group Plc between 1992 and 2004. Mr Stratford was also founder and former CEO of Shire Pharmaceuticals Plc.
Based in Galashiels, Scotland, and listed on the London Stock Exchange, ProStrakan markets products for women's health, ageing male diseases and bone diseases. It has four products in Phase 2 and one product in Phase 3 development.
