Paula Salmikangas, a senior researcher at the Finnish Medicines Agency, has been elected chair of the Committee for Advanced Therapies (CAT) at the European Medicines Agency, replacing Christian Schneider who has stepped down. Ms Salmikangas has been elected for a three-year term. She was previously the CAT vice chair.
She has been a senior researcher at the Finnish agency since 2003 and was chair of the EMA’s Cell-based Products Working Party from 2007 to 2012. Ms Salmikangas holds a Ph.D in cell biology and molecular biology.
The EMA announced the appointment on 18 February 2014.
