Michael Whitaker, a professor of physiology and dean of research and innovation in the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Newcastle University, is one of four new non-executive directors to be appointed to the UK Cell Therapy Catapult, a centre for regenerative medicine located at Guy’s Hospital in London. The centre aims to speed up the commercialisation of new cell therapies. The new team of non-executive directors also includes Nick Higgins, executive director of corporate development at Consort Medical Plc; Tim Edwards, chairman of Atopix Therapeutics Ltd and Oxagen Ltd; and Marc Turner, professor of cellular therapy at the University of Edinburgh.
The Cell Therapy Catapult announced the appointments on 31 January 2013.
