Martin Sims, a director in medicines discovery and development at GlaxoSmithKline Plc, has joined Apitope International NV as the company’s research director. Located in Bristol, UK and Hasselt, Belgium, Apitope is developing peptide therapies for autoimmune diseases. Besides helping direct medical discovery at GSK, Dr Sims led the immunology and the rheumatoid arthritis pharmacology departments. He holds a PhD in immunology from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in biochemistry from the University of Birmingham in the UK.
At Apitope, Dr Sims will focus on strategies related to the generation and validation of novel targets for autoimmune and allergic disease therapies.
