Symphogen A/S of Denmark, which is developing recombinant antibody mixtures for therapeutic use, has appointed Mads Laustsen to the newly created position of chief manufacturing officer. Mr Laustsen is a founder of the contract manufacturing company CMC Biologics and served as that company’s chief executive from 2001 until May 2011 when he joined the board of directors. Prior to this he spent more than a decade developing and manufacturing bulk enzymes and biopharmaceuticals at Novo Nordisk A/S, Zymogenetics Inc and Novozymes A/S.
Mr Laustsen joined Symphogen on 1 June but remains as a non-executive director on the CMC Biologics board.
Symphogen announced the appointment on 19 May 2014.
