Pieris Pharmaceuticals Inc has appointed Julian Adams, president of research and development at Infinity Pharmaceuticals Inc, to its board of directors. The inventor of more than 40 patented discoveries, Dr Adams will advise Pieris on the development of its artificial protein technology called Anticalin. In his career in pharmaceutical R&D, Dr Adams has been responsible for the discovery of the cancer therapy Velcade as well as the HIV medicine Viramune. Prior to joining Infinity in 2003, he was senior vice president for drug discovery and development at Millennium Pharmaceuticals Inc.
Dr Adams received his bachelor of science degree from McGill University and his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in synthetic organic chemistry.
Pieris announced the appointment on 26 July 2016.
