Jerald Sadoff, the former chief executive of the Aeras Global TB Vaccine Foundation, has been named chief medical officer at Crucell NV and will be a member of the company’s management committee.
Dr Sadoff, who received his medical training at the University of Minnesota in the US, is a veteran scientist, author and manager. Prior to joining Aeras, he was executive director of clinical development of vaccines at Merck & Co, leading that company’s efforts to license eight vaccines including those for hepatitis and rotavirus. He has chaired or served on more than 20 task forces or advisory boards including the scientific advisory board of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative. At Crucell, Dr Sadoff will head a new product development group that includes, Alain Pralong, head of process development; Marie Paule Richard, head of clinical development and medical affairs; Luciano Nencioni, head of regulatory affairs and Kevin Jack, head of programme management.
