Jens Klein, formerly of Evonik Industries AG, has become managing director of AMSilk GmbH of Planegg, Germany, succeeding Axel Leimer. AMSilk is a privately-held company that manufactures and markets medical technology and drug delivery products as well as technical fibers. One of its products is an industrial version of spider silk. Spider silk is biocompatible and can be used in pharmaceutical formulations.
Mr Klein was previously an executive at nanoresins AG and Hanse Chemie AG, which were both acquired by Evonik Industries in 2011. Before that he was a member of the executive board of Mulligan BioCapital AG.
AMSilk announced the appointment on 23 May 2014.
