Jean Richard de la Tour, an experienced jurist, has been appointed Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the European Union to succeed Yves Bot who died on 9 June 2019. He will hold the position until 6 October 2024. Mr de la Tour has held many judicial positions in France culminating in the role of First Advocate General of the Commercial, Financial and Economic Chamber of the Court of Cassation. He holds a masters in law from the University of Paris II.
The Court of Justice of the European Union announced the appointment on 23 March 2020.
