UCB SA has announced the appointment of Ismail Kola to the position of executive vice president and president of new medicines and a member of the company’s executive committee from 23 November 2009.
Dr Kola was previously senior vice president for discovery and early clinical research and chief scientific officer at Schering-Plough. At UCB, he will manage the company’s development of new medicines sourced both internally and from outside the company.
Throughout his career, Dr Kola has worked with both commercial and academic entities to identify and discover new drugs. Among his academic associations are the National Health & Medical Research Council of Australia, the US National Institutes of Health and Monash University in Australia.
