Industry veteran Howard Mayer is to join Ipsen SA on 1 December as head of research and development to help oversee the French company’s business strategy. Dr Mayer will be based in Cambridge, Mass, US, and report directly to David Meek, the chief executive. Prior to joining Ipsen, he led research and development in neuroscience at Shire, now part of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. Dr Mayer obtained his BA from the University of Pennsylvania and his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, both in the US.
Ipsen announced the appointment on 5 November 2019.
