Hamina Patel, formerly of Johnson & Johnson Inc, has been appointed chief medical officer at Evgen Pharma Plc, which is developing a drug portfolio based on synthesising the naturally occurring compound sulforaphane. At J&J, Dr Patel was director of oncology drug development. She has also worked in senior positions at Celltech Group (UCB SA) and Chugai Pharmaceutical (Roche).
Dr Patel qualified as a physician in 1990 and worked for nearly a decade in the UK National Health Service before moving to industry.
