Franz B Humer, the former chief executive of the Roche Group, has joined Arix Bioscience Plc as a senior independent director to help it identify companies with emerging technologies. Dr Humer was the Roche CEO for 16 years until 2014, overseeing the acquisition of the biologics company Genentech Inc.
He is currently chairman of Diageo Plc and a non-executive director of Citigroup Inc, Kite Pharma Inc, and Chugai Pharmaceutical Company. Dr Humer has a PhD in law from Innsbruck University, Austria, and has been awarded honorary doctorates by the University of Basel and the London School of Pharmacy.
Arix Bioscience announced the appointment on 31 October 2016.
