Edward Hodgkin, a partner with Syncona Partners LLP, has been elected chair of the UK BioIndustry Association, effective 30 October. He succeeds Tim Edwards, who will remain on the BIA board. Dr Hodgkin has been a non-executive director of the BIA since 2010 and is a member of the organisation’s executive committee. As a partner with Syncona, his role is to help create and lead new life science ventures. Prior to joining Syncona in April 2013, he was chief executive of Biotica Technology Ltd.
Dr Hodgkin trained as a chemist and has served in a variety of scientific, business and management roles in the biopharmaceutical industry in the US and the UK for more than 20 years.
