Privately-owned CellCentric Ltd of Cambridge, UK has appointed David Knowles as its president and chief scientific officer. It has also appointed Neil Pegg as director of discovery research. Both Drs Knowles and Pegg join CellCentric from Piramed Pharma Ltd, which was acquired by the Roche Group in 2008.
At Piramed, the two oversaw the development of small molecules in multiple programmes including a major collaboration with Genentech, Inc.
Dr Knowles has worked in the healthcare industry for over 30 years, the last 10 of which have been in the biotechnology sector. He has held senior R&D positions at SmithKline Beecham, both in the US and the UK, as well as executive and scientific advisory positions at both European and Asian companies.
Dr Pegg has worked in discovery at GlaxoSmithKline and held senior positions at OSI Pharmaceuticals Inc and ReOx Ltd.
