UK-based Complement Therapeutics Ltd, which is developing a gene therapy for geographic atrophy, has created a six-member scientific advisory board to guide it during the development of its pipeline of products targeting complement-related diseases. Members of the panel are: Robyn Guymer, Jeff Heier, Peter Kaiser, Paul Morgan, Matthew Pickering and Nadia Waheed.
Professor Guymer is head of macular research at the Centre for Eye Research Australia which is investigating age-related macular degeneration. Dr Heier is director of the vitreoretinal service and director of retina research at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, US. Dr Kaiser is the director of the Center for Ocular Research and Evaluation at the US National Institutes of Health. Professor Morgan is an expert in the complement system and currently based at Cardiff University in the UK. Professor Pickering is senior fellow in clinical science at Imperial College London, UK. Dr Waheed is professor in ophthalmology and attending physician specialising in vitreoretinal disorders at Tufts University, US.
