Christian Schneider, an experienced regulator, has been appointed director of the UK National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC), effective January 2016. He will succeed Stephen Inglis who has led the institute for the past 14 years.
Dr Schneider is currently head of the medical division of the Danish Health and Medicines Authority. Previously he chaired the Committee for Advanced Therapies at the European Medicines Agency. He qualified in medicine and also worked at the Max Planck Institute for Neurobiology and the Paul Ehrlich Institute in Germany.
The NIBSC announced the appointment on 3 September 2015.
