Christian Itin, the former president and chief executive of Micromet Inc, has been appointed chief executive of Cytos Biotechnology Ltd in Zurich, Switzerland. Dr Itin is taking over from Thomas Hecht, who is stepping down from the board of Cytos, a developer of biologics. Dr Itin led Micromet as CEO from 2004 until the company’s acquisition by Amgen Inc in March 2012. Prior to joining Micromet, Dr Itin co-founded Zyomyx Inc, a protein chip company based in Hayward, California, US.
Dr Itin received a diploma in biology and a PhD in cell biology from the University of Basel.
Cytos Biotechnology announced the appointment on 9 October 2012.
