Genenta Science SRL of Italy has recruited Carlo Russo as chief medical officer to help it advance its gene therapy portfolio for treating tumours. Dr Russo was previously CMO at Adverum Biotechnologies Inc, a US-based gene therapy company. Prior to this, he was head of R&D for rare diseases at GlaxoSmithKline Plc.
Dr Russo earned a doctorate degree in medicine and board certification in haematology at the University of Genoa Medical School in Italy. He did postdoctoral work at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, US.
