BTG Plc has appointed John Brown as a non-executive director, effective 1 January 2008. He will become non-executive chairman on 3 March 2008 when the incumbent chairman, Sir Brian Fender, retires.
BTG in-licences, develops and commercialises pharmaceuticals principally in the areas of neuroscience and oncology.
Dr Brown has been a chief executive of Acambis Plc and is a non-executive director of several public and private biotech companies. He is currently chairman of the governing council of the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh, a government-sponsored research institute, and an advisory board member of ITI Life Sciences, an affiliate of Scottish Enterprise, a development agency, and a board member of the UK Technology Strategy Board. He holds a PhD in neuropharmacology from the University of Edinburgh.
