Briggs Morrison, a pharmaceutical industry veteran, has been appointed to the position of executive vice president for global medicines development at AstraZeneca, succeeding Anders Ekblom. Dr Morrison, who comes to AstraZeneca from Pfizer, will oversee the progress of medicines from early development through to approval and beyond. He will report to the president of R&D, Martin Mackay. Dr Ekblom will lead the science and technology integration office within R&D and continue to report to Dr Mackay. He will also continue in his role as chief executive of AstraZeneca Sweden AB.
