Autolus Therapeutics Plc, which is developing cellular immunotherapies for cancer, has appointed Jay Backstrom to its board of directors, and promoted Nushmia Khokhar to senior vice president for clinical development and drug safety. Dr Khokhar joined Autolus in 2017.
She is a board-certified oncologist with experience in early and late stage clinical development including overseeing registration trials for the multiple myloma drug daratumumab (Darzalex) while at Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies.
Dr Backstrom is head of research and development at the US company Acceleron Pharma Inc. Prior to this, he was chief medical officer and head of regulatory affairs at Celgene Corp, now part of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.
Autolus Therapeutics announced the appointments on 4 August 2020.
