Austin Smith, director of the Wellcome Trust/MRC Stem Cell Institute at the University of Cambridge, is one of seven academics to be appointed to a new advisory panel for the UK Cell Therapy Catapult. Based at Guy’s Hospital in London, the Catapult provides clinical and commercial support to the developers of new cell therapies.
The advisory panel also includes eight representatives from industry and finance. They are Kieran Murphy from GE Healthcare; Ruth McKernan from Pfizer Inc; Jan Thirkettle from GlaxoSmithKline Plc; Michael Hunt from ReNeuron Plc; Mark Zimmerman from Janssen Research & Development, LLC; Gregg Sando from Cell Medica Ltd; Edward Hodgkin from Syncona Partners and Regina Fritsche-Danielson from AstraZeneca Plc.
The Cell Therapy Catapult announced the appointments on 18 December 2014.
