AstraZeneca appoints executive for international

AstraZeneca Plc has appointed Iskra Reic as executive vice president, international, to drive strategy and sustainable growth across a broad region including China, Asia, the Middle East and Africa, Latin America and Australia. Dr Reic joined the company in 2001 and held leadership positions across several regions. She was appointed EVP for Europe & Canada in 2017 and joined AstraZeneca’s senior executive team.

Most recently, Dr Reic launched the company’s vaccines and immune therapies unit and was responsible for the early and late-stage development of the pipeline and portfolio, including Covid-19 and RSV vaccines and monoclonal antibodies. She has a PhD and an MBA in business and leadership from the IEDC-Bled School of Management, Slovenia, as well as a DMD from the Medical University of Zagreb, Croatia. She succeeds Leon Wang who is on extended leave from AstraZeneca while under investigation in China.

AstraZeneca announced the appointment on 4 December 2024.
