H. Lundbeck A/S has appointed Andreas Eggert as senior vice president for global product strategy ahead of the expected launch of new medicines for depression, alcohol dependence and schizophrenia. Mr Eggert has been a member of Lundbeck’s corporate management group since September 2011 and reports directly to the chief executive Ulf Wiinberg.
Simultaneously, the Danish company announced the appointment of Klaus Abel as vice president with responsibility for commercializing medicines from Lundbeck’s partnership with Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co Ltd. Lundbeck and Otsuka are collaborating on the development of up to five new medicines in the area of neurology. Mr Abel will focus on two of these medicines: one which is under development for schizophrenia and the other for schizophrenia and major depression. Mr Abel will report to Mr Eggert.
Lundbeck announced the appointment on 22 August 2012.
