Agneta Svedberg, formerly chief executive officer of Cantargia AB in Sweden, has been appointed chief operating officer at Zealand Pharma A/S, a developer of medicines for diabetes. Effective 1 February, Ms Svedberg will replace senior vice president and COO, John Hyttel, one of the founders of Zealand Pharma, who is retiring from the company.
Ms Svedberg has more than 20 years of experience in drug development, having previously worked for Genmab A/S, Oxigene Europe AB and the former Pharmacia & Upjohn AB. She holds a MSc in radiation physics from Lund University in Sweden and an executive MBA from the Lund University School of Economics and Management.
Zealand Pharma announced the appointment on 4 January 2013.
