Adrienne Graves, formerly chief executive of Santen Inc, has been appointed director-designate at Nicox SA as the French company expands its presence in ophthalmology. Dr Graves did advanced work in visual neuroscience at the University of Paris prior to launching her business career. In addition to leading Santen, she was an executive at Alcon Laboratories Inc which was acquired by Novartis in 2010.
She will be joined on the board by Luzi von Bidder, a former chief executive of Novartis Ophthalmics AG. The directors-designate are expected to be confirmed at a meeting of Nicox’s shareholders in the autumn when the company will also seek approval for the acquisition of Aciex Therapeutics Inc, a US ophthalmic firm. Dr Graves and Mr von Bidder replace Vaughn Kailian and Vince Anido who have stepped down from the board.
Nicox announced the appointments on 11 August 2014.
