Novexel SA, a French company that discovers and develops antibiotics and anti-fungals, has appointed a new chief medical officer and vice president for chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC). The company has also named Michele Garufi, the chief executive officer of NicOx, to its Board of Directors.
The new chief medical officer is Carole Sable, previously executive director of infectious diseases at Merck & Co.Dr Sable will be based in Pennsylvania where Novexel has set up a new US subsidiary, Novexel Inc.
The new vice president for CMC is Peter Spargo, previously managing director of the consultancy, Scientific Update LLP. Dr Spargo earlier worked in R&D at Pfizer in the UK.
