Sanofi SA is proposing Diane Souza, a healthcare insurance expert, as a new independent director of the company. Ms Souza is the former chief executive of UnitedHealthcare Specialty Benefits, a US health insurance business. She is a certified public accountant and has also held senior positions at the audit firms Deloitte and PWC.
Nobel laureate and neuroscientist Thomas Südhof is also being proposed as an independent director. Dr Südhof is a professor in the School of Medicine at Stanford University. His research has focused on the mechanisms of synaptic information transmission which has pharmacological consequences for the treatment of neurological disorders.
Both nominations will be voted by shareholders on 4 May.
Sanofi announced the appointments on 3 March 2016.
