Cancer Research UK and the University of Cambridge have appointed Simon Tavaré to be the next director of the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute. Professor Tavaré is a fellow of the Royal Society and the Academy of Medical Sciences and has been professor of cancer research, applied mathematics and theoretical physics at Cambridge since 2003. He will take up his new post in February 2013, succeeding Bruce Ponder.
The appointment was announced on 21 December 2012.
